The Book of Shadows is a cornerstone in the practices of pagans and Wiccans. It provides ample space for practitioners to record texts, ritual instructions, spells, drawings, diagrams, and ideas. This book can be shared amongst members of a coven or, more commonly, maintained as a personal spell book for an individual practitioner.
Besides the cover, which is black with a silver pentacle, this book is completely blank. Different branches of Wiccans have used different names for this book, including "the Tree," "the Book of Ways," "the Book of Mirrors," or just simply "the book."
