Official Letter of Good Standing Details

The Official Letter of Good Standing is issued with the live signature of a ULC administrator, given the church seal, and notarized to show your current legal good standing within the Universal Life Church.

It serves as official proof of your Universal Life Church ordination, and is often presented next to an official ordination credential to display your status as a minister.

Note: when officiating a wedding, the office in charge of marriage licenses may require you to show a minister license or other credentials in order to register and perform the ceremony.

Although such registration requirements can vary depending on where the wedding will take place, we generally advise having a copy of your Letter of Good Standing on hand to ensure the process goes as smoothly as possible.

Please visit our state wedding guide to learn more about what rules and requirements you'll need to follow when officiating a wedding in your area.

Beyond its usefulness when dealing with marriage officials, many of our ministers also say that having a Letter of Good Standing helps to make them feel more confident and official in their duties as members of the clergy.
