While this is one example of what a mission trip may look like, there are many different forms one can take. In fact, many of them take place here in the United States, and they only last a few days. Everyone should consider going on a mission trip sometime during their life. Whether it's across the world or simply across the country, there are ways it can benefit you that you may not have realized. Not only that, but you will likely be providing a huge blessing to those who you are serving. Here are some reasons why you should consider a mission trip.

Perspective

If nothing else, a mission trip will provide you with some serious perspective. Sometimes, we feel like everything in our life is going wrong when there are people across the world who are starving and have no idea where their next meal is coming from. The fact is, we are very rich compared to over 90 percent of the world. Financial perspective is not the only perspective you will get. You will probably see people who are suffering from health conditions or stresses that you have never imagined. Seeing them and helping them will not only bless them, but will likely help you see how lucky you are. This can be good for just about anybody, even if you are already grateful for everything you have.

You'll See Amazing Hospitality

All around the world, there are people who live in small, one-room huts made of dirt, in the sweltering heat with no air conditioning, plumbing, or electricity. Their pantries may be empty and their bellies may be hungry. Still, you would be amazed at how hospitable they are. Most of them will welcome you into their homes and offer you what little food they have. They will smile and enjoy every minute of having you in their homes. Even in the United States, there are people who live in run down apartments with pests and empty cabinets. While those in America may not be quite as bad off as those around the world, they are still suffering, so you will likely see this even if you stay in the country.

It Can Be Fun

Not only does going on a mission trip help you change as a person, it can also be fun. You will likely experience many moments you will never forget. You may meet a child who touches your heart or an elderly man whose stories you will always remember. Playing a game of soccer in a field with children not only brings them great joy, you will likely find yourself laughing and enjoying yourself as well. Spreading joy is one of the best ways you can have fun, and it won't be something you soon forget.

You Will Form New Relationships

The people you will meet on your mission trip will be people you will likely stay in contact with for the rest of your life. There are many different ways you might serve on a mission trip, including:

Serving food Building houses Putting a carnival together

No matter how you are serving, the people who you are working alongside during the process are experiencing the same life-changing moments as you. This can form a bond that could lead to lifelong friendships.

These are just a few of the many reasons why you should consider a mission trip. If you are looking for a way to bless someone while gaining some new perspective in your life, then it's something you should look into.
