Welcome Statement

Officiant (to guests):

A wedding is not only the union of two people. It also marks the joining of families, stories, and lives. This blended family wedding ceremony script honors the love that extends beyond the couple, embracing children and loved ones in a heartfelt celebration of unity. With meaningful vows and special moments to include everyone, this script helps create a ceremony that reflects the beauty of coming together as one family.

On Marriage and the Blended Family

Officiant:

_________ and _________, two hearts that started life miles from each other, met, fell in love and stand here before us today. This is a great miracle in the making. Now, as you continue to grow together as one, remember that this ceremony today does not signify a destination but, just like life, the continuation of a journey.

When you say to one another “I love you”, what you are really saying is “hold on tight, the ride is long.” As you continue your journey together, look forward to the wide-open roads that call you, and don’t be afraid to satisfy your dreams with new and different experiences, just make sure those dreams come true together. Never forget the spark that started your relationship, and the flame will burn for eternity.

Officiant (optional):

We all know that _________ and _________ have enough love for each other to last a lifetime, but they also have enough love to envelope the very special hearts of [Child 1] and [Child 2].

Officiant:

Today we not only join _________ and _________ in holy matrimony, it is all of you who join together to form one family.

Declaration of Intent

Officiant (to Partner 1):

_________, do you promise to love, honor, cherish and respect _________, in sickness and in health, in joy and in sorrow, for rich or for poorer, will you always be faithful to them, and keep them as your one and only, as long as you both shall live?

Partner 1: I do.

Officiant (to Partner 2):

_________, do you promise to love, honor, cherish and respect _________, in sickness and in health, in joy and in sorrow, for rich or for poorer, will you always be faithful to them, and keep them as your one and only, as long as you both shall live?

Partner 2: I do.

Ring Exchange

Officiant:

The Egyptians believed that the vein of love runs in continuous circle, from your ring finger to your heart. The rings you exchange today shall be a reminder of that never ending, unbroken circle, the circle of love that you have for each other and the families you join together today.

* Partner 1 takes Partner 2’s ring. *

Partner 1: I _________, take you _________ to be my husband/wife. I promise freely to continue to give myself to you and our families. And from this day forward, you shall never walk alone. May my arms be your shelter and my heart your home.

* Partner 1 places the ring. *

* Partner 2 takes Partner 1’s ring. *

Partner 2: I _________, take you _________ to be my husband/wife. I promise freely to continue to give myself to you and our families. And from this day forward, you shall never walk alone. May my arms be your shelter and my heart your home.

* Partner 2 places the ring. *

Marriage Blessing (Optional)

Officiant:

Now that you’ve exchanged your rings and declared your intent to marry, I offer this solemn prayer:

Bless this marriage Father, as _________ and _________ begin their journey down the road of life together. We don’t know what lies ahead for the road turns and bends. Guide them, Father, help them to make the best of whatever comes their way.

Help them to continue to enjoy each other as they did when they first met.

Help them to realize that nothing nor no one is perfect and to look for the good in all things and all people including themselves.
Help them to respect each other’s likes and dislikes, opinions and beliefs, hopes and dreams and fears even though they may not always understand them.

Help them to learn from each other and to help each other to grow mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.

Help them to realize that no matter what happens to them they will have each other to hold and know that things have a way of working out for the good.

Amen

Pronouncement

Officiant:

_________ and _________, no matter how old you get, never stop holding hands, dancing, and saying “I LOVE YOU”

And now, it is with great pleasure, by the power vested in me by the Universal Life Church, that I pronounce you, _________ and _________, married!

You may kiss and seal the deal!

Family and friends, it is my honor to introduce to you, officially, for the first time, _________ and _________.
