Sacred Texts and Vehicles

Sacred texts like the Bible, Quran, and Torah are unrivaled in the influence they have held throughout history and the sway they wield over the minds and souls of people from every corner of the world. Not even blockbuster series like the Harry Potter and The Da Vinci Code books, critically-acclaimed classics like Catcher in the Rye, nor historically-significant tomes like Uncle Tom's Cabin attain anything close to the importance as these religious texts. As such, every religious scholar must have at least a cursory understanding of the religious texts of the world's major religions.

A common theme amongst the religions of the worlds is the use of sacred vehicles to transfer blessings, good luck, and other religious effects to the faithful. A classic example of sacred vessels are the unleavened bread and sacramental wine that is consumed during the Eucharist. While someone with no knowledge of Christian theology wouldn't assign meaning to the acts performed in the Eucharist, a Christian finds this ceremony's sacred vehicles of bread and wine to be highly important in the symbolic faith in Jesus it expresses.
