Yahweh is the creator of the Universe. Scholars and scribes responsible for translating the Bible felt the name YHWH was too holy to be spoken out loud for regular day to day occasions. Biblical text was originally in Hebrew, then it was translated to Aramaic, Greek, Latin, and finally English. The name Lord, God, or Adonai was routinely used when reading scripture aloud. YHWH does not have any vowels in it's ancient spelling. Yahweh has vowel sounds that were added to make it easier to pronounce. Yahweh is God's name that is personal.
The creation story in Genesis discusses how the the heavens and earth was created in seven days. During these seven days the visible heavens, beasts of the earth, and sea creatures where spoken into existence. Man was created in the image of God. Woman was made from of Adam the first man. Man was created to have dominion and rule over all creatures within the earth on land and sea. Plants, herbs, and vegetables were given to be as nourishment. Every day Yahweh spent time with Adam and Eve. They had a personal relationship, and were given one rule. Do not eat from the tree of knowledge of good and evil.
Man was allowed to live in the Garden of Eden, until they disobeyed and ate from the tree of knowledge. The serpent appeared to Eve, Adams wife. She ate the fruit in the garden and encouraged Adam to partake. They were sent out of the Garden and into the world to fend for themselves. Yahweh was merciful and allowed them to live, but outside of the garden.
Adam and Eve went out and started populating the earth. Fallen angels who left heaven in defiance of Yahweh lusted after the women of the world. Their offspring became known as nephillum, giants, heroes, and men of renown.
In those days, and for some time after, giant Nephilites lived on the earth, for whenever the sons of God had intercourse with women, they gave birth to children who became the heroes and famous warriors of ancient times. Genesis 6:4
Noah had a pure bloodline. Noah and his family were able to escape the great flood by following God's instructions. Yahweh walked with Noah and gave him instructions on building the Ark, and capturing specific plants and animals for the journey.
Moses freed the Israelite's from an Egyptian pharaoh. Pharaoh finally agreed to release them after several plagues. Pharoh agreed to let them go, but decided to send his army in pursuit. Yahweh created a path of dry land throughout the Red Sea. Pharohs men followed them into the sea, and were swallowed by the sea. Moses was one of a few select people that had the opportunity to speak with Yahweh in person. Moses went up on Mt. Sinai. Moses had to wear a veal to cover his face after his meeting with Yahweh. His face shone and reflected the presence of God on the people.
Enoch walked with God. He is the father of Methuselah, a man recorded to live over 900 years. Gen 5:24 "And Enoch walked with God; and he was not, for God took him. Enoch did not have an earthly death, because Yahweh took him. Enoch is also mentioned in the book of Revelations, many believe that he may be one of the two witnesses that come to earth preceding the return of Yeshua.
There are hundreds of verses in the Bible that discuss that character of God. The entire old testament has several stories regarding the lineage of Jesus. God's son sent to earth in mortal body is named Yeshua. Yeshua is the Aramaic pronunciation of Jesus. Aramaic is the language the Jesus spoke during his lifetime on Earth. The Bible teaches that through Jesus crucifixion, death, and resurrection there is hope for mankind. All that believe in Jesus can have eternal life through the forgiveness of sin. Jesus was a blood atonement for the sins of the world. John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
In the old testament Hebrew priests would use the blood of a young bull, male goat, ram,female goat or lamb, dove or pigeon, or one tenth of ephah. Ephah was a grain flour sacrifice was reserved for the people who were very poor. This sacrifice was for the atonement of personal sin or a specific trespass.
Recent archeological discoveries confirm the true name of God in ancient artifacts.The name Yahweh is listed on pottery relics found within Solomon's Temple and on the Dead Sea Scrolls.
Yahweh's character can be learned and studied by reading the Bible. The old testament has several parallels and insights into the heart of Yahweh. Reading through several of the biblical stories and New Testament parables will help increase understanding.
