Prophets

The prophets of the world's many religions served as intermediaries with the deities of the religions they belonged to. In this way, prophets like Mohammad and Yahweh served a vital role in that they provided a wholly human figurehead for for faith systems which otherwise require followers to believe in non-tangible and non-human entities. Prophets, as earth-bound religious mouthpieces, both gave human followers a person to identify with and aspire to as well as conveying spiritual guidance and insight directly from the divine beings they claimed to have contact with.

The precise roles prophets assume within their respective religions vary greatly. Some, like Mohammad, are so important to their faiths that their actions now affect even minute details of everyday life. Others divide similar religions based on differing interpretations of their roles within their faith system, like Jesus with Christianity and Judaism.

An inherent aspect of the nature of prophets is that they are frequently taken with a grain of salt. For every "true" prophet which has popped up throughout history, many more false prophets have wrongly claimed to receive divine guidance. It is up to our ministers whether or not they view the prophets described in the articles in this section with the same skepticism.
